How To Achieve The Perfect Natural Makeup Look

Our favorite “it” girls always look so effortlessly flawless! So how do they do it? Do they have makeup on, or does their skin naturally look this glowy and beautiful? We’ve all been there, wishing we could call them ourselves and ask how they achieve this unblemished finish! I just had to know, so I did the research. I got the answers. And best of all, I’m going to share them with you! Every last detail.

Less is More.

The first thing you must know about cosmetics is that less is more. Light and simple coverage is always best! You should be using makeup to enhance your natural features rather than using it to cover them or look like someone you are not. Remember, you are beautiful! Embrace your natural beauty!

Begin with a Fresh, Clean Face.

Skincare is an essential part of glam, and a flawless makeup look truly begins with the skin. It is a good practice to wash your face twice a day – once in the morning and once at night. Be sure your cleanser is gentle enough for your skin! A cleanser that is too harsh will only irritate your skin, making it red and dry.

Moisturize. Then Moisturize Again!

Your skin needs hydration just like you do! What should you use? There are so many options out there, but remember, less is more! Using a good vitamin c serum, paired with a light yet hydrating moisturizer after cleansing, will give your skin the boost it needs. It will also create a perfect base for you to build on. Vitamin C brightens, firms, and protects the skin. Combining that with a good moisturizer will leave your skin hydrated and glowing! It’s a common misconception that serums and moisturizers make your skin too oily. Getting into a routine with products that work for you will actually nourish your skin and help to balance out excess oil production!

Use Concealer, But Keep It Cute!

Concealer can be a life-saver to help with those dark under eye circles, or the pimple that wasn’t there last night but suddenly appeared today! It is important to choose a concealer that is a few shades lighter than your skin tone, since its purpose is to brighten the area, but do not over-do it! When applying concealer under your eyes, draw the concealer in an upside-down triangle shape rather than sweeping it on in a circular motion. The triangle application will help brighten your face while eliminating any discoloration that may occur. Let it sit for 30 seconds so the concealer has time to set. Finish by using a beauty blender to dab the concealer until it blends into a beautiful coverage. When applying concealer on blemishes, dab the concealer directly onto the blemish. Let it sit for 30 seconds so it has time to set. Finish by using a beauty blender to dab the concealer until it blends into a flawless finish.

Bronzer and Blush Are Your New Besties!

Nothing gives a more natural, sun-kissed glow than a little bronzer and the right shade of blush. This combo will emphasize your features without leaving your skin feeling heavy. Bronzer should be applied to all of the areas that the sun would naturally touch on – the temples, cheeks, and nose. If you want a little extra color, you can blend the bronzer out lightly across the whole face. But remember, less is more. So, the key here is lightly. To finish the look, blend in a light blush along the top of your cheek bones. If you feel like you may need more coverage, opt for a tinted moisturizer before going in with the bronzer and blush.

Hello Light and Shimmery, Goodbye Dark and Smokey!

While we all love bringing the drama with the bold eyeshadow, heavy eyeliner, and dark lashes, we love the bright and clean shimmer just as much! For a natural look, I recommend starting with a cream-colored base shadow and adding a white or light beige shimmer shadow on top. The key is to stay away from bold colors, and really lean into easy neutrals. Your eyelids will look beautiful and bright when dusted with these glistening neutrals! When it comes to liner, leave the black behind and go for a lighter brown shade. To keep the airy feel, line your upper lash as close as possible to the lash line and leave the bottom lash line bare. To finish the look, go for a brown, lengthening mascara for lashes that look naturally long and full!

Add Highlighter Above Your Bronzed Areas.

After using a bronzer to achieve a sun kissed glow, I recommend going in with a cream-colored, shimmer highlight alongside the bronzer on your temples, cheeks and nose. You should also add a touch of highlight on the inside corner of your eyes. It will help to bring out your eye color and brighten up your eyes!

Eyebrows – Don’t Over-Do Them!

Don’t over-do it! This is true when it comes to filling them in, as well as plucking them out. Full eyebrows are in right now, so, if you have fuller eyebrows, embrace them! Just be sure to keep them shaped! It is best to have this done professionally, because let’s face it – plucking your eyebrows yourself does not always end well. For fuller brows, I recommend using a clear brow gel to help them hold their shape, but it is not essential to fill them in with color. For you light brow girls, it is okay to add some color and dimension! Be mindful that you choose a color that is not too dark, as it will not blend well with the rest of your glam.

Luscious Lips

What you do with your lips can make or break your whole look! There are so many fun lipstick colors to experiment with, but when going for a natural look, you should opt for a subtle shade of pink or a nude. For a little extra shine and volume you can top the lipstick with a plumping gloss. Or, for a natural shine, leave the lipstick behind and just go with a gloss! Either way, I recommend choosing a gloss that is hydrating which will give your lips a healthy glow!
