If you’ve been following along you have probably heard me talk about Kenzie Burke’s method of food combing! If not you can learn more about it here https://corriemchone.home.blog/2020/04/16/fruit-first/
Food combining is a method of eating that promotes optimal digestion. One part of food combining is eating fruit first, alone, and on an empty stomach. Fruit is digested very quickly…as quick as just half an hour. So, if you mix fruit with other foods which take longer to digest, it utilizes excessive energy and is likely to cause discomfort. However, there are a few foods that are “neutral” and some of these foods go great with fruit!
If you are trying to follow food combining, or just looking for a healthy, delicious breakfast idea, here it is ♡
- Use a plant based yogurt as your base! You can use any you would like, but try to get it unsweetened. For sweetness, you can add honey!
- Top with fruit of your choice. Berries and bananas always go great with yogurt. In this case, strawberries and bananas were used!
- Next, add unsweetened coconut flakes for a delicious and naturally sweet crunch! These are a neutral food!
- Then, add cacao nibs. These are a neutral food.
- Finally, if you would like a little sweetness, top with a drizzle of honey!
